Juanilyn Bacala is from the village of Bitibut, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental. She is 20 years old, single, and has one infant-aged child. To make a living, Juanilyn owns and operates a specialized retail store. The main source of income for the business comes from selling fish in the local community. Juanilyn has been engaged in her business for over two years and earns approximately 12,000 PHP per month from these activities.
In 2010, Juanilyn joined Kiva partner, GDMPC, to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She is requesting a loan of 10,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional inventory and as working capital. This loan will be her first from GDMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to supplement her family's income.
