María Naula, 37, lives with her life partner, who works in construction, and their 6 children. The oldest is 16 years old and works as a helper with his father; he is also finishing secondary school because he had dropped out of school but is now back attempting to finish his studies (he is in an open studies program). The other five children are between 14 and 4 years of age; they are all students except the youngest, who stays home with his mother. They live in a rented house in the Trinidad neighborhood, Turi parish. This parish is known for being a tourist attraction because one can get a panoramic view of most of Cuenca from there. Most of the residents are farmers and the young residents work in the city. Maria works as a domestic caring for other people’s houses. She has been in this line of work for several years but she only works part-time, four days a week; the rest of the time she spends with her family, she farms vegetables and she raises chickens for subsequent sale in Cuenca’s free market. This is her second loan cycle. Previous loans have made it possible for her to maintain her chicken hatchery and to buy feed for her chicks. The new loan from FUNDACIÓN ESPOIR will be used to buy chickens, corn and vitamins to enlarge her business. Because she enjoys everything that has to do with cooking, her hope for the future is to have a small food stand to sell her delicious dishes.

La señora María Naula tiene 37 años de edad, vive en unión libre con su pareja que trabaja como maestro de construcción y sus seis hijos, el mayor tiene 16 años y trabaja como ayudante junto a su padre, además estudia a distancia para terminar sus estudios secundarios que los dejo porque no le gustaba estudiar y ahora los ha retomado, sus otros cinco hijos oscilan entre 14 y 4 años todos estudiantes excepto el pequeño que pasa junto a ella, viven en una casa arrendada en el barrio Trinidad en la parroquia Turi, esta parroquia se caracteriza por tener una gran afluencia de turistas ya que de allí se puede observar una gran parte de la ciudad de Cuenca, la mayor parte de su población se dedica a la agricultura y los mas jóvenes trabajan en la ciudad. Maria se dedica al arreglo de casas ajenas labor que realiza varios años solo medio tiempo cuatro días a la semana el resto de tiempo lo dedica a su familia, a la agricultura siembra hortalizas y también a la cría de pollos lo que vende en el mercado de la feria libre en la ciudad de Cuenca. Se encuentra en su segundo ciclo y los créditos le han ayudado para continuar con su criadero de pollos y comprar el alimento para su crianza, con el nuevo crédito que la FUNDACIÓN ESPOIR le entregue va a comprar pollos, maíz, vitaminas para incrementar su negocio. Como le gusta todo lo que se trata de cocina su sueño es tener un pequeño puesto de comidas para deleitar con su rica gastronomía a sus clientes.
